Join Gleeson Library and members of the Department of English for a marathon public reading of The Bean Eaters by Gwendolyn Brooks in observance of this year's Banned Books Week. Participants will take turns reading a poem from Brooks' volume. Her poem "We Real Cool" was banned in schools in Mississippi and West Virginia in the 1970s. 2017 is the centennial anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize winning poet's birth.
